Moscow Fashion Week has garnered attention and respect from both industry professionals and the general public, according to Alexei Fursin, Moscow Government Minister, Head of the Moscow Department of Culture. He noted that over one and a half million people attended all the events of Moscow Fashion Week last year.
"Moscow Fashion Week has become a coveted event for many emerging designers from the regions. We've received a record number of applications—over a thousand. The geographical reach has expanded, doubling since 2022. Designers from more than 70 regions and 150 cities across Russia are participating. One of the key venues is the International RUSSIA Expo, where all events are free of charge and open to everyone," Alexei Fursin emphasized.
He also highlighted that Moscow Fashion Week brings together not only Russian designers but also international participants eager to showcase their products and purchase Russian goods.
The event opens up new opportunities for Russian designers, including sales markets, said one of the gala show participants, designer Vadim Merlis. "Moscow fashion is unique. Many small local brands have emerged, and people are eager to buy from them. Moscow Fashion Week has helped nurture these designers and showcase them both nationally and internationally," Vadim Merlis noted. Daria Eremeeva, founder of the WRUSH brand, added, "This is a great opportunity for an emerging designer to showcase their creativity and tell people about it. Moscow Fashion Week is one of the biggest events in our country's fashion scene."
From March 2 to 8, more than 50 Russian brands from 36 cities will be showcased at the International RUSSIA Expo. Promising designers from across the country will present their collections and have the chance to connect with potential partners and customers. The final gala show is set for March 8. Students from Russian fashion schools, including the Kosygin Russian State University, Moscow Art and Industrial Institute, National Institute of Design, and Online Academy of Branding and Design METRICS, will showcase their best works. The ethnic musical group OTYKEN, which includes representatives of Russia's indigenous peoples of Chulym, Ket, Selkup, Khakass, and Dolgan descent, will also perform at the event.
The previous season of Moscow Fashion Week was held from June 20-26, 2022, attracting over 1.6 million visitors. This year, the event is taking place at two venues: the International RUSSIA Expo and the Central Exhibition Hall ‘Manege’. From March 2 to 7, the Moscow Fashion Week Market at the Central Exhibition Hall ‘Manege’ will allow guests to purchase clothes, shoes, and accessories from Russian brands. Additionally, a B2B showroom will be available, providing a professional platform for the business community.
Moscow Fashion Week received 1038 applications from designers across 151 cities in 72 regions of Russia. The event is organized by the Fashion Fund with the support of the Moscow Government.
